Ryan Briscoe May Be Looking for a New Team for 2013: A Fan’s Reaction

Team Penske owner Roger Penske will likely need to drop one of his three drivers before the 2013 season. It is simply an issue of sponsorship. Without more sponsors for the three drivers, one of the three will need to find another team. Currently, Will Power, Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe are all with Team Penske. It is being speculated that Briscoe is the most likely driver to be dropped. Power is one of the final two drivers competing for the 2012 championship. Castroneves is one of the highest profile drivers and one of the best drivers in the Indy 500. Though Briscoe is a great driver, on a team with other great drivers, Briscoe is likely the one that would be overlooked.

Most recently, Briscoe finished second at the Grand Prix of Baltimore. It was a great finish for the driver even though he was already out of contention for the championship. The driver will likely finish the season in sixth place. His sole win in the season came during the GoPro Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma in Sonoma, California. He will have one more shot at impressing teams at the IndyCar season finale in the MAVTV 500 in Fontana, California. As long as he can do well, and help his teammate if he needs to, he should not have any problem finding a team.

Ryan Briscoe is a good driver, but when it comes down to it, I guess I can see why he would be the one who would go. He should not have a problem finding another team but sometimes weird things happen. If he were not able to find another team for 2013, as strange as that would be, he might be able to take his talents to another racing organization. Several IndyCar drivers have recently gone to the NASCAR organization. Hopefully, though, he will not be forced to leave the IndyCar organization and his fans will be able to root for him while he is with a new team. As long as he manages to get a competitive team that uses a competitive engine, he should be able to do fine at whichever team he ends up with.
