Rudy Gay put up 33 points and added 6 assists, while Isaiah Thomas added 26 points and 7 assists to lead the Sacramento Kings to a close victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 111-108. The Kings had no trouble knocking down shots from the field in this one, going 45-82 (54.9%). Sacramento (14-23) picked up the win after falling to Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
Gay shot 12-19 (3-3 from three-point range) and 6-6 from the free throw line, in a quality offensive outing. DeMarcus Cousins also chipped in for Sacramento, finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Love had another strong game for Minnesota despite the loss, scoring 27 points on 9-16 shooting (4-6 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 5-6 from the free throw line. He also added 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Nikola Pekovic contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds.
The Kings combined an eFG% of 57.9% with 41.7% 3-point shooting. They are 3-1 this year when registering marks above 55% and 40% in those respective statistics. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, are 1-7 when allowing opponents to hit those marks.
Minnesota (18-20) has now dropped consecutive games after losing to San Antonio on Sunday.
