Rubio expected to make season debut

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will make his season debut Saturday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Timberwolves announced Saturday that Rubio has been cleared to play. He will play his first game since tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee in March.

Rubio has been practicing with the team for almost two weeks.

"I'm excited to get back on the floor with my teammates and play in front of the best fans in the NBA at Target Center," Rubio said in a statement released by the team. "After a long recovery, this is the first step in me getting back on the court and helping my teammates. Thank you to the fans for their support over the last nine months."

Minnesota has struggled with key injuries for much of the past two seasons but has managed an 11-9 record heading into the matchup with Dallas.
