SALVADOR, Brazil (AP) -- President Dilma Rousseff, who appealed to Brazilians in a national television address to support the World Cup, took her campaign to the streets of the northeasten city of Salvador.

Rousseff spoke at the opening of a subway station Wednesday saying ''we have everything we need to make this the Cup of Cups.''

Rousseff told people that Brazil is being accused of not wanting the World Cup, which she says ''is not true. I see more and more hospitality of the people toward the teams and how happy the people are with the Brazilian team.''

Rousseff is up for re-election in October and has been forced to defend delays in preparing stadiums, and an overall World Cup bill of $11.5 billion. About $4 billion is for 12 new and renovated stadiums.
