Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Rose still open to playing this year

With the clock ticking down in the NBA regular season, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose remains noncommittal about his return.

Before the Bulls' shootaround Sunday prior to their game against Detroit, Rose continued to say he's not sure when he'll play again. But he isn't ruling out playing yet this year.

"Oh no," Rose said. "I'm keeping it open."

Rose continued to stress that he won't be pushed back into playing before he's ready. And only he knows when that will be. Only six games remain in the regular season.

"I'm not trying to think about that right now," Rose said, according to ESPN.com. "I'm just trying to get better.

"I'll play whenever I'm ready to play. Who knows when I'm ready to? Right now, all I can do is just cheer on my teammates."

Rose is approaching one year since he tore an anterior cruciate ligament last April 28 in the playoffs. Since then, he had surgery and focused solely on the rehab before returning to practice last month.

If he does play this season, he wouldn't shy away from restricted minutes on the court.

"I wouldn't mind at all," he said. "Of course I want to play more, but it's not that big. I'm going to play whenever I'm ready. I don't care if it's 15 or 40. I just love the game too much. I'm just waiting, just praying about it and hopefully I'll be out there soon."
