Rookie Tyler Skaggs Faces San Francisco Giants for First Time: Fan’s Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

With back-to-back wins against the Colorado Rockies, the San Francisco Giants were able to continue their success on the road. After a day off, they'll now face an Arizona Diamondbacks team that recently won two straight games over the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers. Due to these wins, the Giants' magic number to clinching the NL West title is 13, as they improved to seven games ahead of the Dodgers.

After getting help from the Diamondbacks in the standings, the Giants will now look to beat them as they continue their crusade on the road. As the team traveled from Colorado to Arizona, they hoped to have also brought their success with their bats. Facing rookie left-hander Tyler Skaggs, the youngest pitcher in the majors, the Giants will go against a new face who will be making their fifth start this season.

For the Giants, Matt Cain will look for his first win in four starts. After putting up decent outings against the Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, and Dodgers, a win on Friday would match his career-high. For the first of three left-handed starters for Arizona, the Giants look to improve their team .263 batting average against lefties with another high-scoring outing.
