Roma director Walter Sabatini has admitted that the Giallorossi are keen to sign River Plate starlet Lucas Ocampos in the summer transfer window.
The attacker has been in superb form for the Millonarios since making his first team debut in August 2011, and his good performances have earned him the interest of a number of European giants.
Ocampos has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich in the past few months, although a reported 22 million euro price tag placed on the teenager by his club has proved a deterrent for Europe's top clubs.
According to the director, however, if the fee can be negotiated Roma are sitting in pole position in the race for the 17-year-old's signature.
"We intend to contract him if we can get him for a reasonable price," Sabatini was quoted as saying by Ole.
Ocampos would be the second River Plate star to move to Roma within a year if a transfer materializes after Erik Lamela's move in the summer of 2011.
