Roma fined after racist Balotelli chants
Roma have been fined 50,000 euros by the Italian authorities after its fans racially abused Mario Balotelli during Sunday's clash with AC Milan.

The referee had to stop the game just after the start of the second half after a chorus of abusive chants were aimed at the Italy striker.

“A fine of 50,000 euros with a warning for Roma, whose supporters continuously addressed racially discriminatory chants to players of the opposing team, prompting the referee to suspend the game for two minutes in order to make them desist from such reprehensible behavior," a statement from Serie A read.

Roma, meanwhile, has warned its fans of their future conduct after the incident, insisting that the behavior had no place in football.

"Roma condemn any form of racial abuse," read a club statement on their official website. "This type of behavior from any football supporters, including ours, is completely unacceptable. We are committed to facing this issue head-on to rid our sport of this problem and promote respect for all."

The match at San Siro eventually finished 0-0, with Sulley Muntari and Francesco Totti both receiving red cards.
