Rolando McClain ready for NFL return

National Football Post

After a year away from football, Rolando McClain is looking to return.

Speaking with The Carroll County Times, McClain said he's prioritized his life and plans to play football. After a third arrest in two years led him to retire last April, McClain said he feels ready to return to the Baltimore Ravens, which signed him just before his career was put on hold.

“You take time to really figure out yourself. What’s going to make me happy? What ticks me off? All that stuff," McClain said. "So you really become a prisoner inside your own house, inside your own self. You’re not really talking to anybody. You just focus and try to figure out yourself.”

McClain said he hopes to speak with Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome about a return on Friday. If he's given the go-ahead, he plans to attend every voluntary workout.

McClain was taken eighth overall in the 2010 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. He posted 246 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception in his three NFL seasons.
