Roger Federer hits trick shot off opponent's butt; MJ delighted

>

Roger Federer defeated Australian Marinko Matosevic in a first round match at the US Open. That was easily the least interesting thing that happened at Arthur Ashe Stadium in NYC Tuesday night.

First of all, Federer debuted his Air Jordan III-inspired shoes that he'll wear throughout the tournament with none other than MJ sitting in his courtside box to see all the action. Jordan, in fact, helped design the shoes.

Next, Federer flawlessly executed a between-the-legs shot that hit Matosevic right in the butt. The point was already over, but the shot certainly delighted Jordan.

Finally, with the match all but decided, Matosevic took the opportunity to get a few words in with Jordan himself. Down two sets to none, Matosevic glanced up to Jordan and said, "I just want to be like Mike."

Clearly, this was an attempt by Matosevic to turn the tide of the match. It didn't work, as Federer won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. But hey, at least the Aussie got a photo with MJ.

The second-seeded Federer moves on to face Sam Groth in the second round.
