Rodriguez shifted to DH due to tight quad

The SportsXchange

Alex Rodriguez was switched in the starting lineup from third base to designated hitter on Saturday night in a minor league rehab game because of a tight left quadriceps, the New York Yankees announced.

Rodriguez was hitless in four at-bats for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in its game against Louisville in Moosic, Pa.

The previous night, he went 2-for-4 with two singles for Scranton. The quad tightness could have resulted from the second single, which he tried to stretch into a double and was thrown out at second base.

The Yankees have said that Rodriguez, if healthy after his 20-day rehab stint in the minors, will be called up to the big leagues for Monday night's game against the Texas Rangers. The 37-year-old Rodriguez has yet to play for the Yankees this season after undergoing hip surgery in January
