Rodgers, Manning named Players of the Month

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Bears CB Charles Tillman and Giants PK Lawrence Tynes were named the NFC’s Players of the Month for October.

In four games, Rodgers threw 14 touchdowns and only one interception. The Packers went 3-1 in October and Rodgers has not thrown a pick since Week Five.

Tillman returned two interceptions for touchdowns in October and shut down Lions WR Calvin Johnson in Week Seven. In the four games, the Bears went 4-0 and Tillman had five passes defensed, two picks and three forced fumbles.

Tynes was 13-of-14 on field goals in October, as the Giants went 4-0. He made all five field-goal attempts in the team’s Week Eight win in Dallas.

Broncos QB Peyton Manning, Dolphins DE Cameron Wake and Raiders PK Sebastian Janikowski were named the AFC Players of the Month for October.

Manning completed 77-of-104 passes (74.0 percent) for 951 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception in three games, posting a 2-1 record. His passer rating in the month was 126.7.

Wake had nine tackles and three sacks in Miami’s three games in October. He had one sack in each game and the Dolphins went 3-0 in the month.

Janikowski converted 10-of-11 field-goal attempts in October and has made eight field goals in the last two games, both wins for Oakland.
