Rockies to give veteran Batista shot at rotation

The Colorado Rockies have agreed to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with veteran right-hander Miguel Batista.

The 41-year-old spent last season with the Mets and Braves where he compiled a 4.82 ERA with a 1.1 K/BB in 46innings.

Batista has appeared with Pittsburgh, Florida, Chicago, Montreal, Kansas City, Arizona, Toronto, Seattle, Washington, St. Louis, New York and Atlanta. If he makes the Rockies roster, it will be his 19th season in the majors.
