Robinho 'irritated' by Santos wage claims
AC Milan attacker Robinho has been "irritated" by claims that he is demanding enormous wages from Santosahead of a potential move, according to the player's father.

The Brasileirao club has claimed in recent weeks that the striker's salary wishes "need to get back to reality" but the former Manchester City forward's parent defended his son, who he believes is more than happy about taking a paycut should he leave San Siro.

"He [Robinho] will accept the fact he’ll be earning much less in order to come back to Santos," he told Lancenet. "I spoke to Santos vice president Odilio Rodrigues for the first time last week to study the Robinho situation. If someone else negotiated on his behalf, then they were not authorized to do so.

"Robinho was very irritated to hear Santos talk about certain wage demands that he had never made. I don’t know where that money was meant to go, but not to Robinho or Milan. I will talk to Milan over the next few days."

Interim Santos coach Claudinei Oliveira insists that the club has not given up on signing the 29-year-old, whose contract runs out next year, and that formal talks are ongoing.

"The club has not passed up [on Robinho]," he told reporters. "We have said it was our desire to sign him, but we have had 15 days of difficulty with it. Now we wait - negotiations are in progress and Santos has not give up completely. [We are waiting] for a response so that we can plan to sign him or not."

Cruzeiro sporting director Alexandre Mattos claims that Robinho, whom Santos is believed to be willing to pay 8 million euros for, held initial talks with the Milan attacker but that he will not be joining the club in the near future.

"The club have spoken to Robinho," Globo Esporte quote Mattos as saying. "We wanted to satisfy the fans. Cruzeiro suggested [a transfer] to him but his interest is to stay in Europe or return to Santos.

"He was very flattered by all of this, but I am turning the page and we are continuing with our current squad."
