Robert Griffin: Doesn't Necessarily Need Preseason Action To Play In Week 1
Update: Griffin (knee) won't rule out playing in the Redskins' season opener even if he doesn’t play in any preseason games, the Washington Post reports. "I’ve thought about that and yeah, I would be comfortable with that," Griffin said this past Thursday. "That’s all I can say. I have no control over whether I play in the preseason or not."

Recommendation: For his part, Coach Mike Shanahan said that Griffin would at least need to get some practice time in with the Redskins' first-team offense before playing in a game. In any case, Griffin who is working his way back from knee surgery in January, hopes to be ready for training camp, which begins July 25, as well as the Redskins' September 9 regular season opener. Neither of those scenarios are close to a lock at this point, however.
