Rivera won't pitch in final series

Mariano Rivera has pitched the last game of his storied career.

Baseball's saves leader said he has "tremendous" arm soreness that will prevent him from pitching in the Yankees' final series of the season in Houston.

"I'm done, guys. I'm done. I gave everything that I have," Rivera said before Saturday night's game against the Astros. "I think Thursday was the game that I left everything on the field. ... I don't know how I got those two last outs in the ninth inning. I was giving everything. I left it there."

The 43-year-old Rivera will end his final season with a 2.11 ERA in 64 innings, converting 44 of 51 save opportunities.

His final game on the mound was the season finale in Yankee Stadium on Thursday night.

"I know (that) was the perfect moment. It was something I would have never expected," Rivera said. "I think I squeezed every ounce of fuel out of my tank. It is empty. I have nothing left."

The Yankees' season ends Sunday against the Astros in Houston.
