Is the feud over? After being referred to as a "cancer" and a malcontent, is it possible for New York wideout Santonio Holmes and quarterback Mark Sanchez to make peace? During the off-season, both men worked on their relationship. Last year's losing record got to the players. Most of what happened in the Jets locker room would not have occurred if the team went to the post-season.
The Holmes-Sanchez rift
Was there a problem between Holmes and Sanchez? No doubt there was. Sanchez seemed to have a disconnect with the starting wideout. Holmes was not the only player affected by this disconnect. Part of the Jets' problem last season was Mark Sanchez's inability to hit his receivers.
Santonio Holmes: cancer or starting wideout
I think that Santonio Holmes is human. The loss of field time compounded with the Jets failing to make the play-offs hit him hard. Sure, he was outspoken and the hissy-fit he threw on the field near the end of one game last year was hugely unprofessional. Holmes was over critical of the Jets and should not have bashed his team as publicly as he did. That was then, this is 2012. Let's wait and see if Santonio Holmes has changed. Both he and Sanchez say the war is over--give them the benefit of the doubt.
Mark Sanchez: starting quarterback or flop
Whether you like Mark Sanchez or not is a non-issue. He is the starting quarterback for the New York Jets this season. Sanchez worked hard in the off-season with his receivers, repairing damaged relationships. His Jets West camp went well. I am looking forward to a healthier situation in Gang Green's locker room this year.
The Tebow situation
Tim Tebow always comes up in conversation when the quarterback situation is mentioned. Tebow is not some superstar quarterback. If he was that good, Denver would not have traded him--even with Manning. The fact is, Tebow is a mediocre quarterback with a lower percentage of completions than Mark Sanchez.
Why the media loves Tebow so much is beyond me. He is an standup, righteous man for sure, but that is not always newsworthy. He even makes the news by running shirtless in the rain after practice. Come on, a shirtless quarterback making news--really? Besides, in the looks department, Tim Tebow is just average. If you are like me, this Tebow thing is getting lame.
