Repors: Yankees, Kuroda agree on $16 million deal

The SportsXchange

The New York Yankees finalized a one-year deal with right-handed pitcher Hiroki Kuroda that will pay him $16 million, with another $500,000 available based on innings pitched, the New York Post reported.

Other contract details are still reportedly being worked out.

Kuroda, 38, made $15 million last year when he went 11-13 with a 3.31 ERA, the lowest among the team's other starters. He also went over the 200 innings plateau for the third straight year. However, he was 0-6 with a 6.56 ERA in his final eight starts of the season.

Before negotiating a new deal with the Yankees, Kuroda was considering either retiring or returning to Japan.
