Reports suggest Eagles' Vick likely to be benched

The SportsXchange

Although Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid has not announced his decision about whether Michael Vick will remain the Eagles' starting quarterback, several reports say Vick is likely to be benched.

Reid met with his coaches following Sunday's 30-17 loss to Atlanta to discuss the quarterback situation, according to Howard Eskin, the sideline reporter for the Eagles' radio broadcasts, and Eskin also reported the coaches were scheduled to meet again on Monday morning to talk about the same issue.

Eskin reported, based on sources, that the Eagles are "likely" to replace Vick with rookie Nick Foles, a third-round draft pick.

A report by and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also suggested a change at the quarterback position is possible, although that report said Reid is somewhat reluctant to make the change because he doesn't believe Vick is the only problem with the offense.

Vick is 10-10 as the team's starter over the past two seasons, and he has committed 13 turnovers (eight interceptions, five fumbles) this season.

Vick admitted after Sunday's game that Reid is considering making a change at quarterback.

The Eagles are 3-4, and their next game is Monday against the Saints in New Orleans.
