Reports: Spurs sign G Belinelli

The SportsXchange

Free agent guard Marco Belinelli agreed to a two-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs, multiple media outlets reported.

According to Yahoo Sports, Belinelli's contract will be worth $6 million. USA Today Sports reported that the deal will pay about $6 million, while ESPN.com put the figure at $5.6 million.

NBA contracts can't be finalized before Wednesday.

It's possible Belinelli's arrival will mark the end of guard Gary Neal's time in San Antonio. Neal is a restricted free agent. ESPN.com reported Neal is receiving offers higher than a level the Spurs are willing to match.

Belinelli, a 27-year-old Italian, averaged 9.6 points, two assists and 1.9 rebounds in 73 games for the Chicago Bulls last season. He made 27 starts. It was his lone season in Chicago. In 12 postseason games, he averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

While his totals were roughly equivalent to his career figures, Belinelli's shooting was off last season. He hit just 39.5 percent of his shots from the floor and just 35.7 percent from 3-point range, each the lowest figures he's posted since his rookie year.

Belinelli began his NBA career in 2007-08 with Golden State, and he played two years with the Warriors. He spent one season with the Toronto Raptors before playing two seasons with the then-New Orleans Hornets.
