The Patriots made a series of roster moves Monday to reach the NFL roster limit of 75 players, including the release of several notable veterans.
The team released DL Tim Bulman, WR Jabar Gaffney WR Donte’ Stallworth, DB Ross Ventrone and DL Gerard Warren.
In addition, New England placed DB Will Allen, S Josh Barrett and FB Spencer Larsen on injured reserve.
The team also announced that it has claimed first-year WR Kerry Taylor off waivers from the Vikings. Taylor, a 6-0, 196-pound Arizona State product spent time on the practice squads of the 49ers and Vikings last season. He was cut by Minnesota on Aug. 25.
The way we see it
The release of Stallworth is a minor surprise considering his experience in the Patriots' system and his ability to be a deep threat. However, he had a poor training camp and there was strong competition for roster spots at the WR position.
