Reports: Orioles' Bundy experiences setback
Dylan Bundy, the Baltimore Orioles' top minor league prospect, has run into injury trouble again.
The 20-year-old right-hander is experiencing stiffness in his right forearm and elbow. According to multiple media reports, he will be examined by John Wilckens, the club's orthopedist, in Baltimore on Tuesday, and then later by Dr. James Andrews, who examined the pitcher in April. At that time, Andrews gave Bundy a platelet-rich plasma injection.
Bundy, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft, hasn't pitched yet this season. He had just resumed throwing in the past two weeks after a break of more than two months, but he had a setback Monday while playing long-toss, according to multiple media outlets.
He debuted with the Orioles as a reliever when called up during roster expansion last September, and he pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings. Bundy went 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 23 minor league starts last year for three teams in Baltimore farm system.
