Reports: Hawks land Lou Williams

The SportsXchange

Free agent guard Lou Williams, who has played the past seven seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, has agreed to a multiyear deal with the Atlanta Hawks, according to numerous media reports.

NBA deals can't be officially signed until Wednesday.

Williams, 25, is heading home, as he was selected out of South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Ga., in the second round of the 2005 draft. He was due to make more than $5 million for the 76ers in 2012-13 before opting out of his contract.

During his time in Philadelphia, Williams started just 38 of 455 games, with all of the starts coming during the 2009-10 season. He had a career-high scoring average of 14.9 points per game last season, tops on the 76ers roster. He also averaged 3.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game.

Williams finished second to Oklahoma City's James Harden in voting for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year last season.
