Reports: Browner in talks with Pat, Redskins

The SportsXchange

Even though he is suspended for the first four games of the 2014 season, Brandon Browner is finding suitors on the free agent market.

The 29-year-old cornerback met Thursday with the New England Patriots, and he was due to visit the Washington Redskins on Thursday night, multiple media outlets reported.

Browner was reinstated from an indefinite suspension by the NFL last week, with the stipulation that he sit out four more regular-season games.

Browner played the past three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks following four seasons in the Canadian Football League. After he was suspended last year, he said he was unfairly placed in Stage 3 of the NFL's testing program because of missed tests while he was playing in the CFL.

A Pro Bowl performer in 2011, Browner was suspended for the Seahawks' final two regular-season games and three playoff games last season. He played in just half of Seattle's regular-season games in 2013, and he also missed time due to a groin injury.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport tweeted Thursday that sources told him Browner agreed to a two-year contract with the Patriots. However, agent Peter Schaffer later told reporters that no deal was reached and that four teams were interested in Browner.

The Patriots already added one cornerback in free agency this week, giving a one-year, $12 million deal to Darrelle Revis.
