Report: DE Young signs tender with Lions

The Detroit Lions signed defensive end Willie Young to a second-round tender offer worth slightly more than $2 million, The Detroit News reported Tuesday.

The 2010 seventh-round draft pick joined offensive tackle Jason Fox as the second restricted free agent to sign with the Lions. Detroit's other restricted free agent, safety Amari Spievey, remained unsigned as of Tuesday afternoon,

Young had no sacks and 11 tackles last season and has just three career sacks. While his numbers don't add up to a second-round tender, the Lions have holes to fill on the defensive line after they released defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch and stand to lose Cliff Avril and Lawrence Jackson in free agency.
