Report: WR Sanders headed to Broncos

The SportsXchange

After losing Eric Decker in free agency this week to the New York Jets, the Denver Broncos did not waste time finding a replacement.

According to reports, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is close to a deal with the Broncos. Sanders tweeted a YouTube video offering his thanks to Steelers fans on Saturday.

A free agent, Sanders has visited Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and Kansas City in search of a long-term contract. He also is scheduled to talk with the San Francisco 49ers, according to the reports.

If Sanders signs with the Broncos, he would join a group of receivers that includes Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Andre Caldwell.

With the Steelers last season, Sanders had a career-high 67 receptions for 740 yards and six touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Sanders turns 27 on Monday. He has experienced some injury problems in the past, most notably foot problems during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, but he has played in every game since then.
