Report: West Virginia C Madsen to miss bowl game

Syracuse has already had a few of it players supended for Saturday's Pinstripe Bowl against West Virginia, and now the Mountaineers have noted one of their starters will be missing for that bowl game as well.

West Virginia starting center Joey Madsen did not travel with the team to New York because of academic issues, the Charleston Daily Mail reported.

Madsen, a second-team all-Big 12 selection this season, has started 50 of the past 51 games for the Mountaineers. The only game he missed in that stretch was the 2010 Champs Sports Bowl, and that was also for academic reasons.
