The Vikings cut RB Caleb King, who was released from jail on Tuesday after having been arrested Saturday on suspicion of third-degree assault, according to Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer Press.

King was arrested after allegedly fracturing the skull of 22-year-old Andrew Hayek at a party last Friday evening. No charges had been filed against King at the time of his release, but the county attorney's office was still investigating.

Minnesota signed King as a free agent last August after he went undrafted in the supplemental draft last summer. The University of Georgia had ruled King academically ineligible.

King did not play last season, spending most of the season on the Vikings' practice squad.
