Report: Titans cutting Reynaud
The Tennessee Titans are cutting kick returner Darius Reynaud, ESPN.com reported Monday.
Reynaud has made several mistakes on returns this season. Among them:
--On Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, he muffed a punt that Kasim Osgood recovered in the end zone for a touchdown that extended San Francisco's lead to 31-10. The 49ers won 31-17.
--On Sept. 8 at the Pittsburgh Steelers, Reynaud fielded the opening kickoff just across the goal line and pulled it back in to try to down the ball for a touchback. The Steelers were awarded a safety on the play. Tennessee did win 16-9.
The Titans chose to keep Reynaud when they made final cuts instead of Marc Mariani, who had a shoulder injury. Tennessee placed Mariani on injured reserve instead of deactivating him the first few weeks of the season.
The Titans may turn to wide receiver Damian Williams, who is a candidate to replace Reynaud. The team may also look externally for a new returner.
Tennessee is on a bye this week. Its next opponent is the St. Louis Rams on Nov. 3.
