Steelers sign RB Blount to two-year deal

The SportsXchange

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agent running back LeGarrette Blount to a two-year contract on Friday.

Financial details were not available.

The powerful 6-foot, 250-pound Blount rushed for 772 yards, a 5.0 per-carry average and seven touchdowns last season for the New England Patriots.

Blount visited the Steelers on Friday. He fits the need noted earlier by coach Mike Tomlin, who said the team wanted to add a backup to Le'Veon Bell.

The Steelers also met with Maurice Jones-Drew, who signed with the Raiders on Friday.

Blount, 27, played three seasons with Tampa Bay before joining the Patriots prior to the 2013 season. Blount's most productive season was 2010, when he rushed for 1,007 yards.
