Cornerback Sam Shields signed his tender with the Green Bay Packers, the team announced Monday.
Shields' tender for 2013 is worth $2,023,000. Shields was a restricted free agent, and if he had not signed the tender by June 17, the team could have reduced the deal to 110 percent of Shields' $540,000 price of last season.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was scheduled to meet with the team on Monday to try to reach an agreement on a long-term deal, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.
Shields, 25, played in 10 games for the Packers last season, including eight starts. He had three interceptions and one sack.
