Rushel Shell apparently is running a reverse.
The rising sophomore running back won't transfer from Pitt to UCLA, despite previous plans to do so, multiple media outlets reported.
According to the Los Angeles Times, he hopes to rejoin the Panthers. Remaining in Pennsylvania would keep him close to his twin daughters.
Shell amassed 141 carries for 641 rushing yards and four touchdowns last season, in which he backed up Ray Graham. He added nine receptions for 103 yards.
Shell topped 13 carries in a game only twice: a 23-carry, 157-yard effort against Virginia Tech on Sept. 15, and a 25-carry, 79-yard day against Ole Miss in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
During an outstanding career at Aliquippa (Pa.) Hopewell High, Shell gained a state-record 9,078 yards. He was one of the nation's most highly recruited backs before landing at Pitt.
