Report: Seau suffered from CTE

National Football Post

San Diego Chargers legendary linebacker Junior Seau, who committed suicide last May at age 43, suffered from the degenerative brain disorder CTE, according to ESPN.

CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) is brought on by repeated head trauma and has been found in a number of former NFL players who are now deceased.

Seau's family went public with the diagnosis of the star linebacker's brain, which was studied after he killed himself. Seau played 20 years in the NFL with the Chargers and New England Patriots.

"I think it's important for everyone to know that Junior did indeed suffer from CTE," Gina Seau, the linebacker's ex-wife said. "It's important that we take steps to help these players. We certainly don't want to see anything like this happen again to any of our athletes."
