Report: Seahawks DE Clemons may have torn ACL

The SportsXchange

The Seattle Seahawks' 24-12 victory over the Washington Redskins Sunday did not come without some troubling news for the team.

Defensive end Chris Clemons, the team's top pass-rusher, left the game with a knee injury, and the Seahawks fear he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported.

Losing Clemons, who leads the team in sacks with 11.5, would be major blow for the Seahawks in next week's game against Atlanta.

"It's a shame," Clemons' agent, Donal Henderson, told Rapoport. "He's worked so hard to get there."

Henderson believes the conditions at FedEx Field contributed to the injury. Clemons was wearing 3/4-inch cleats to get traction on the slippery surface.

If an ACL tear is confirmed, Clemons will undergo surgery.
