Fantasy Football 2014:

Report: Sam Hurd preparing guilty plea

National Football Post

Former Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Sam Hurd is preparing a plea agreement to a federal drug conspiracy charge less than a week before his trial is scheduled to begin.

Jared Hopkins of the Chicago Tribune reports that Hurd’s attorney Jay Ethington said, “a plea of guilty is in the works.”

Hurd was busted by federal agents in December 2011 while playing for the Bears. He told an undercover agenyt he was seeking to buy as much as 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week to distribute.

According to Hopkins, Hurd faces a maximum sentence of 10 years to life in prison and a fine of up to $10 million. Needless to say, Hurd won’t be running any routes in the NFL again.
