The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers have shown mutual interest in Rivers becoming the Clippers' head coach, ESPN.com reported Thursday.
The Clippers have not formally asked or received permission to speak to Rivers, but there have been reports that Rivers and the Celtics may part ways.
According to reports by ESPN.com and the Los Angeles Times, Rivers would immediately become the Clippers' No. 1 choice if he becomes available.
To this point, the Clippers search to fill their head coaching vacancy has focused on Brian Shaw, Byron Scott and Lionel Hollins.
Also, according to ESPN.com, the Celtics and Clippers have discussed possible trade scenarios that could bring Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Clippers.
