It appears that Cleveland running back Trent Richardson will probably sit out the Browns' preseson opener on Thursday night against the St. Louis Rams, The Plain Dealer reported Tuesday.
The Browns have kept the second-year player out of team drills since he was kicked in the shin last Thursday during practice. Richardson missed the majority of the Browns' offseason workouts because of a muscle strain in the shin.
Richardson, the Browns' top pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, has dealt with injury issues since he arrived in the NFL but recently talked about carrying the ball 300 times this season.
The 22-year-old Richardson rushed 267 times for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 51 passes for 367 yards and a TD in 15 games as a rookie last year.
