Report: RHP Jurrjens reaches deal with Orioles
Right-hander Jair Jurrjens has agreed to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
Jurrjens's base salary will be $1.5 million. Additional incentives could increase the value of the contract to $4 million, CBSSports.com reported.
The 26-year-old Jurrjens posted a 3-4 record with a 6.89 ERA in 48 1/3 innings with the Atlanta Braves last season. He spent part of the year in the minor leagues and became a free agent in October.
Knee problems have derailed Jurrjens' ascending career. taking away some of the velocity from his fastball. After going 13-6 with an 2.96 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 2011, his stirkeout total dipped to 19 in 2012.
