Report: Reds' Price withdraws as Marlins' managerial candidate

The SportsXchange

As the Miami Marlins moved forward in the process to hire a new manager, Cincinnati Reds pitching coach Bryan Price is no longer a candidate for the job.

Price pulled his name from consideration, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported. Price, who has signed a contract extension with the Reds, interviewed with the Marlins last week.

According to the Miami Herald, the front-runner to replace Ozzie Guillen as Miami manager is Mike Redmond, a former Marlins catcher who has managed two years in the Toronto Blue Jays' farm system. But the newspaper reported that other candidates are yet to be interviewed.

Former major-league manager Larry Bowa has talked with the Marlins about the opening. The Herald said the Marlins wanted to discuss the job with San Diego Padres special assistant Brad Ausmus, but he refused.
