Report: Ravens QB Dixon likely Philly-bound

The SportsXchange

Dennis Dixon might have a new gig thanks to an old friend.

The Baltimore Ravens' practice-squad quarterback could land a job with the Philadelphia Eagles as soon as next week, Comcast SportsNet Philly reported. The Eagles' new head coach is Chip Kelly, who was Dixon's coach at Oregon.

According to NFL.com, Dixon is spending this week portraying the role of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in practice as the Ravens prepare for the Super Bowl.

Dixon was the Steelers' fifth-round draft pick in 2008, and he wound up appearing in four games (three starts) with Pittsburgh over the course of three seasons. He completed 59.3 percent of his passes for 402 yards with one touchdown pass and two interceptions.

He landed in Baltimore before this season, and he never appeared in a regular-season or postseason game for the Ravens.

The Eagles' quarterback position is expected to be in flux during the offseason. Veteran Michael Vick likely will head elsewhere after losing his job to rookie Nick Foles.
