Report: Rams expected to sign LB Will Weatherspoon

The St. Louis Rams are expected to sign linebacker Will Weatherspoon and give the veteran a second tour with the team.

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams have been seeking some help at the position and are expected to bring Weatherspoon on board before training camp begins. Weatherspoon played for the Rams from 2006 to 2009 and has also played for Rams coach Jeff Fisher in Tennessee.

Weatherspoon led the Rams in tackles in 2006 and 2007 before he was traded to the Eagles in the deal for Brandon Gibson. Per Thomas, the Rams have only three linebackers with tangible experience on the roster right now.

The Rams also waived-injured offensive tackle Terrell Brown and linebacker Phillip Steward, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon doing rehab work last week. Both players were undrafted free agents. Brown, from Ole Miss, weighed 403 pounds when he arrived.
