Report: QB Kiel to transfer from Notre Dame

Quarterback Gunner Kiel reportedly will transfer from Notre Dame.

The freshman, who enrolled in classes a year ago after graduating early, has yet to choose a destination, according to Irish Sports Daily.

The nephew of former Irish quarterback Blair Kiel has four years of eligibility left after redshirting last season. Kiel, who was ranked as the top rated prep quarterback in the 2012 class, was Notre Dame's scout team quarterback last season.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly wasn't available for comment.

Everett Golson was expected to retain the starting job after leading Notre Dame to a 12-0 record and a spot in the BCS title game, which the Irish lost to Alabama.

Kiel has a history of indecision. During his recruitment, he committed to Indiana, then decommitted to LSU, then switched his commitment to Notre Dame.
