Report: Police investigate Scotland-Nigeria match

AP - Sports

LONDON (AP) -- The Scottish Football Federation said Tuesday it was in contact with ''relevant authorities'' following allegations of attempted match-fixing of a friendly between Scotland and Nigeria.

The Daily Telegraph reported on its website that officers from the National Crime Agency were investigating attempts to fix Wednesday's match at Fulham's Craven Cottage. The newspaper said the NCA has asked FIFA ''to issue an alert over potential attempts to rig the game.''

The NCA, which investigates organized crime, and FIFA both declined to comment on the report. But the Scottish federation told The Associated Press it ''liaised with the relevant authorities and will prepare for the match as normal.''

The game between Scotland and World Cup-bound Nigeria is part of a string of warm-up matches ahead of the tournament in Brazil next month.
