Report: Penn State RB Redd meets with USC

Penn State running back Silas Redd met with Southern Cal coach Lane Kiffin for three hours on Thursday, according to a report by ESPN.

The meeting took place in Connecticut, and Redd could visit USC over the weekend and make a decision by Monday.

Redd is considering his options with Penn State players cleared to transfer and play immediately following the sanctions that were levied against the program on Monday by the NCAA.

Redd, who rushed for 1,241 yards and seven touchdowns last season, has two years of eligibility remaining. Should he transfer to USC, Redd would not count against the Trojans' scholarship limit.

The 5-foot-10, 209-pounder is the No. 7-rated running back for the 2014 NFL Draft according to early rankings by NFLDraftScout.com.

Redd did not attend the Big Ten Media Days on Wednesday, as three other Penn State players traveled to Chicago instead.

While Purdue and Illinois are among the schools that have already made contact with some Penn State players, Ohio State's Urban Meyer said he wasn't sure if he would recruit current Nittany Lions and Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said he has decided not to.

"I made the decision as a head coach we would not reach out to any Penn State players," Bielema said. "I think one of the things that I've loved and appreciated about being in this conference is there is a genuine respect for everybody in our league that you are a Big Ten brother and ... we're a group of coaches that have a network that's beyond anybody's expectations and helping us in recruiting."
