Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth had surgery to repair a broken bone in his left wrist and will be out of action for about 12 weeks, MLB.com reported Monday. Werth was injured while trying to catch a shallow flyball hit by the Phillies' Placido Polanco on Sunday. Werth's glove hand got caught underneath him, bending his hand backward. Werth missed the entire 2006 season because of an injury to the same left wrist that required surgery to repair torn ligaments. He signed a $126 million, seven-year deal with the Nationals before the 2011 season. Werth is hitting .276 with three home runs this season.
