Report: Marlins agree to deal with 1B Jones

The Miami Marlins agreed to a two-year contract with free agent first baseman Garrett Jones, the Miami Herald reported Friday.

The two-year deal is reportedly worth $7 million to $8 million.

Jones, 32, had a batting line of .233/.289/.419 with 15 home runs in 144 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates this year. He had 27 home runs in 2012.

The deal could be a sign the team will trade incumbent first baseman Logan Morrison, though both can play in the outfield.
