Lousiville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware is back on a basketball court, representing welcome news for college basketball fans who witnessed his horrific injury during the NCAA Tournament in March.
Ware announced via Twitter over the weekend that he had his cast removed from his broken right leg, and was able stand on his own two feet. WDRB.com reported that the sophomore was shooting baskets.
Ware broke his right tibia in Louisville's Elite Eight win over Duke on March 31, and was in a cast for eight weeks.
"I'm not going to do anything to jeopardize it," Ware told WDRB.com. "But I'm not going to take it easy, either."
Ware's teammates can start individual instruction on Wednesday and small-group workouts on Thursday.
Without Ware, Louisville went on to win the national championship by beating Michigan, 82-76.
