Report: Lombardi in talks to join Patriots' front office

The SportsXchange

Michael Lombardi, who was fired Tuesday as the Cleveland Browns' general manager, has had discussions about joining the New England Patriots' front office, according to multiple reports.

Chris Fedor of the 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland first reported Thursday that the two sides were nearing an agreement.

Lombardi has history with coach Bill Belichick when they worked together during a stint with the Browns from 1991-1995.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported there are still issues to work out between the two sides.

Lombardi spent five years prior to joining the Browns in 2013 as a television analyst with NFL Network.
