Jason Hanson keeps on kicking.
If the longtime Detroit kicker can reach agreement on a new contract with the Lions, he plans to play a 22nd NFL season in 2013, USA Today reported Tuesday.
The 42-year-old Hanson, who entered the league in 1992 and has played in 350 games for the Lions, ranks third in NFL career points with 2,150 and third in field goals with 495 field goals. He also hold the record for most field goals of 50 yards or longer at 51.
Last season, Hanson showed he's still up to the job with a career-best 134 points, making 32 of 36 field goal attempts for 88.9 percent.
If Hanson can extend his career a few more years, he has a shot at career scoring leader Morten Andersen, trailing the former Oakland kicker by 394 points.
