Report: Lattimore to enter NFL draft
Injured South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore will enter the NFL draft, ESPN.com reported Monday.
An official announcement is expected later this week.
Lattimore sustained anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament injuries on Oct. 27 against Tennessee when he took a helmet to his right knee.
He ran for 662 yards with 11 touchdowns this season.
Lattimore has been rehabilitating with the help of NFL team doctors in preparation for a pro career. However, he may have to sit out a year. He hopes to be able to jog and catch passes by March for the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.
He has also sought out advice from current and retired NFL running backs including Willis McGahee, Frank Gore and Eddie George, who recovered from serious knee injuries.
Lattimore's recovery is believed to be on schedule and he is not using crutches.
It is not Lattimore's first knee injury, however, as he missed half of last season with a torn left ACL.
Lattimore has 2,677 rushing yards with 38 touchdowns in three seasons with the Gamecocks.
